As early as the National Day of 2022 when I drove to Yunnan, I planned to drive around Yunnan on the newly built Deqin Road, but at that time the road construction time on the announcement board was extended, so I didn't make it. Four months later, during the Spring Festival of 2023, I finally got my wish‼️ 🚗Self-driving loop Kunming➡️Lijiang➡️Diqing➡️Nujiang➡️Baoshan➡️Dehong➡️Dali➡️Chuxiong➡️Kunming 🌟The most essence section of the journey Diqing (National Highway 214)➡️Deqin Road➡️Nujiang (National Highway 219) 🛣️Old National Highway 214｜The old road to Tibet is still worth it On the way from Shangri-La to Deqin, there is a section of the old National Highway 214, which was an important route from Yunnan to Tibet. After the new National Highway 214 was built, this old national highway was downgraded to Provincial Highway 236, from an altitude of over 3000 to 4292 meters, you can enjoy the Baima Snow Mountain, the cascading roads and grassland vegetation at close range, and you can see the Meili Snow Mountain in front when the weather is good. The drive to Baima Snow Mountain Pass is the highest road section in Yunnan, and it is also the border between Deqin and Shangri-La. 🛣️Deqin Road｜Difficult and beautiful The construction of Deqin Road started at the end of 2009. It is an important road connecting Diqing Tibetans and Nujiang Lisu. The completion of this road also means that the large loop of Yunnan tourism is finally opened, and there is no need to detour. It is more convenient to go from Yunnan to Sichuan! The Peacock Mountain Tunnel was the most difficult section during the construction of Deqin Road. It used to have to cross the Peacock Mountain Pass at an altitude of 3800 meters. Due to the harsh climate and perennial snow, it was affected by heavy snow from December to June every year and had to be closed, making the road impassable. Now that the Peacock Mountain Tunnel is open, it only takes less than three kilometers and an altitude of 3400 meters to drive through easily. 🛣️National Highway 219｜The picturesque mountains and rivers When I first saw this border line National Highway 219, I was a bit surprised. There are at least 200 kilometers of artificial sightseeing trails built along the road, with picturesque Bingzhongluo and the first bay of the Nujiang River. Continue north along Bingzhongluo to Tibet. National Highway 219 runs from north to south through the entire Nujiang Prefecture, with the Biluo Snow Mountain and Gaoligong Mountain on both sides of the river, forming a canyon landscape. There are many places to stop along the way, especially like sitting by the rolling waves of the Nujiang River, and taking pictures casually is very cinematic!

Bingzhongluo, a sacred land known as 'the dwelling place of gods and humans alike', is a treasure meticulously sculpted by nature. Trekking is the best way to explore this mysterious land. Starting from the idyllic village of Wuli, following the winding paths, every step is taken on the traces of history. The ancient Tea Horse Road bears witness to the vicissitudes of Bingzhongluo, and we too, on this trekking journey, feel the passage of time. The First Bend of the Nu River is a stunningly beautiful spot along the trek. From a high vantage point, the river carves a graceful arc that takes one's breath away. The formidable Stone Gate Pass is even more majestic, compelling awe at the natural wonders shaped by the hands of the divine. Trekking in Bingzhongluo during springtime, the hills are covered with blossoming peach trees, creating an intoxicating sea of pink. The rapeseed flowers also bloom across the land, adding a splash of golden color to the trek. We proceed along the Nu River Gorge, crossing the Dulong River, each step filled with challenges and surprises. After crossing the Nu River and the Lancang River, we finally reach the towering Meili Snow Mountain. Standing at the summit, overlooking the entirety of Bingzhongluo, all the beautiful scenery is within sight, and a sense of accomplishment naturally wells up within. Trekking in Bingzhongluo is an intimate encounter with nature, a challenge to one's own limits. The Three Parallel Rivers region in Yunnan includes the Nu River, the Lancang River, and the Jinsha River, with some accounts also adding the Dulong River. The Nu River, the Lancang River, and the Dulong River generally rush southward along the Hengduan Mountains, and after leaving the country, they are renamed the Salween River, the Mekong River, and the Irrawaddy River, respectively. However, the Jinsha River bravely heads east, undaunted by the hardships, and reaches the East China Sea. No matter how the Three Parallel Rivers are summarized, the Nu River is always referred to as the 'big sister,' which is why the first bend near Bingzhongluo is particularly famous. Bingzhongluo is a small town, and the best viewpoint of the first bend is on a nearby mountain. The scenery of the town is also quite pleasant, just hope not to encounter a rainy day.

Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture is an autonomous prefecture under the jurisdiction of Yunnan Province, located in the northwest of Yunnan Province. It borders Chayu County in Linzhi City, Tibet Autonomous Region to the north, Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture to the northeast, Lijiang City to the east, Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture to the southeast, and Baoshan City to the south. The total area is 14,703 square kilometers. Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture is named after the Nu River, which runs from north to south throughout the territory. It is the only Lisu autonomous prefecture in China, and the Dulong and Nu ethnic groups are unique to the Nujiang area. Nujiang Prefecture has the most diverse ethnic composition and the highest number of less populous ethnic groups in China. Nujiang Prefecture is home to the 'Three Parallel Rivers' World Natural Heritage site and the Gaoligong Mountain National Nature Reserve, earning reputations as a 'natural landform museum, a gene bank of biological species, a virgin land of human civilization, and a grand garden of ethnic cultures.' Representative attractions in the area include the Dulong River, Bingzhongluo, Stone Moon, and Laowo Mountain.

Angry River originates from Tibet, flows through Yunnan into Myanmar, and finally empties into the Indian Ocean. The section in Tibet is called 'Nachu River', and in Myanmar, it is known as 'Salween River'. We traveled north along the Angry River for three days, from Lushui City to Laomudeng Village in Fugong County, and then to Bingzhongluo in Gongshan County. On the third day, we arrived at Bingzhongluo in Gongshan County. G219 is well-maintained, with a cycling lane provided all the way, offering an experience of a section of Bingzhongluo. After crossing the Yunnan-Tibet border into Linzhi Chayu County, the road turns into a dirt track. Vehicles coming from the Tibet section to Yunnan are covered in mud. Landslides, falling rocks, and debris flows are the norm here, and it is really not recommended to visit during the rainy season. Here, villages are called 'XX Luo' or 'XX Tong', depending on whether the Nu, Lisu, or Tibetan ethnic groups are the majority in the village; some are called 'Luo' and some 'Tong'. Trek through the ancient tea-horse road of Wuli Village, Qiunatong, overlooking the first and second bends of the Angry River. This place is known as where gods and humans dwell together, probably referring to the peaceful coexistence of multiple ethnicities and religions.
