Failed to take the steps of the Grand shaft maybe try again in the near future Read the website to understand that they open on the 3rd Sunday of the month during April - November
Unfortunately Closed in Winter!
Unfortunately when we came, the steps were closed so we will have to return. But the walk around the surrounding area was a delight. Dover gets neglected as a tourist destination as well as by locals....

Great triple spiral staircase in the cliffs. Descending the stairs was much easier than coming back up them! Well worth the effort though. The volunteers are very knowledgeable and friendly. We visite...

Not visited for a while. As part of a visit to the Western Heights (Redoubt, North Entrance, Citadel) visited the Grand Shaft. Great walk down to the bottom.... bit harder climbing back up all those...
