Baiyi Buddhist Convent

Also known as Baiyi Nunnery, it is named after the worship of Guanyin, a master in white. It is located at the west end of Jiaotong Road in Bozhou City. In the 6th year of Shunzhi in the Qing Dynasty (1649), Baiyi Luyuan was founded by monk Jinxiu, and later expanded by monk Miaozhan of Huashan, blind monk Desheng of Wutai, and Dong Jiwen, a medicine merchant in Shanxi. In order to commemorate the blind monk Desheng and the medicine merchant Dong Jiwen, the mountain gate of the White-robed Law Court, contrary to the custom, faces the northwest and faces Shanxi. The four characters "White-clothed Law Court" on Shibian of Shanmen were handwritten by Mr. Deng Shiru, a famous calligrapher during the Qianlong period. The present Baiyi Law Court was donated and built by Mr. Tang Deyin, who lived in Hong Kong. The mountain gate has three bays, double eaves resting on the roof, glazed tile roof, and four diamond statues on both sides of the gate. The Daxiong Hall is the main building, with a width of 5 rooms. The wood carvings of Guanyin, the master in white, are enshrined in the hall. The rear hall is located on the north side of the courtyard, with 5 bays, and there are more than 50 rooms and complete religious facilities.
