Holiday Inn ST. Louis - Downtown Conv Ctr

Two of the main things I looked for when booking was a pool and free parking. The pool was indoors which was fine. Was surprised to see how small it was and was a big let down that it was so freezing we couldn’t enjoy it at all. So it was a let down that one of the main reasons I booked here we didn’t get to use the pool. This place does have newer furniture in its rooms but the floor throughout and the furniture it the lobby is just stained up and dingy. The signs on 1st floor for ice machine/vending are wrong. Asked a rude house keeper that was upset bc I guess I interrupted her cleaning. She had told me it was around the corner…. The out of order machine was on the other side of the building. I finally found me an ice machine on next floor. The people at the front desk are very nice and courteous. Really nice. But wish they had explained more on their parking so that I didn’t end up with a ticket each day I was there. So they have no free parking lots at the moment. You either have to park in their drop off zone are a section of street parking on the side. The other lots available you have to pay per day. Due to this I found a spot on the side (side street parking as they suggested) and I didn’t move my car. I kept it there the entire time and walked everywhere I needed to go. Well when I went to leave I had parking tickets racked up for several days. I went in and asked them if that was there parking as told previously and they said yes. I told them about the tickets and they said it was managed by the city and u have to back in or get a ticket. That would be nice to know when you offer that as a parking suggestion. I go out to lot to see if there was a sign. There was a sign many spots down that in the direction I was coming from wouldn’t have seen. I also looked all almost every vehicle was parked wrong way so obviously they weren’t told or didn’t see sign either. I started warning those I could. $30 a day ticket city it making a lot of money of that small parking section from out of towners etc that don’t know ST Louis parking laws …. The hotel won’t warn u of this and they know. Besides these couple things everything else was good.

We will be back to this lovely hotel tucked into a park-like corner of Kansas City. It’s just steps from the Plaza and a quick walk to local restaurants and shops in Westport. Helpful and speedy valet service. Thanks Stephen! Soon the free trolley will extend to this neighborhood opening up a whole new way to get around.

Our family getaway to StL went great with this hotel. It was clean, the staff was super friendly and the continental breakfast was honestly one of the better ones I've experienced. The general location is good for local attractions like the Magic House and the Zoo. But, the exact location is a little odd to find at 1st, but once you do it gets oretty easy to navigate. For meals there's a good mix of local flavor and national chains.

We arrived on a Wednesday night, after reserving a “balcony” room with two double beds. Our party included two adults and two children (as confirmed via our online booking). Upon arrival our room had only three sets of towels. Upon contacting the front desk, we were told that we could come down to pick up additional, as they didn’t have staff to deliver. We DID notice a housekeeper cleaning “front of house” areas, but evidently delivering items to guest rooms wasn’t part of her job description. Our room did NOT have a balcony. It wasn’t of major importance to us, however, we DID pay more (per room night) for this feature. When it was brought it to the attention of the front desk (“manager” Alicia or Amanda?), she kindly adjusted our rate. However, when checking out on Sunday, we found that while 3 nights were “adjusted” appropriately, our Thursday night rate was actually increased $20. This was above and beyond our quoted balcony room rate. (We were in a standard room for the duration of our stay.) This concern was brought to the attention of the front desk clerk working on Sunday morning. She explained that her “manager” wouldn’t be in until mid-afternoon, and she had no “access” or rights to adjust room rates. We find this unacceptable- not having a Manager on Duty “on site”, who can handle guest problems during a Sunday morning (mass) checkout. The clerk we spoke to did not apologize, and seemed indifferent to our concern. Also observed in the lobby was (what appeared to be) a non-hotel guest “transient” sitting on the couch and “tweaking” (rocking, talking to self, urinated on carpeted floor). The person asked us for money, and hotel staff appeared to allow this person’s presence in their lobby setting (rather than encouraging her to “move along”. Is this common practice? The hotel decor is beautiful, and the landscaping well-kept (sprinkler system was working throughout out stay). Parking lot was to be resurfaced. Our key cards didn’t work on several occasions, thus causing us to return from 7th Floor to front desk for reprogramming. Lastly, the majority of the sandwiches, salads, and wraps in the sellf-serve cafe area had reached their expiration dates. But, the breakfast buffet offered within the lower level dining area exceeded our expectations. This property has much potential. However, management and staff will have to pay better attention to detail if they hope to advance to the next level!
Clayton Plaza Hotel & Extended Stay

This hotel is centrally located in ”downtown” Clayton with easy access to highways and main roads throughout St. Louis. We got free parking for 2 of the 3 nights we were here and discounted parking on the third night. A substantial breakfast with an omelet and waffle bar is included. My only caveat is that there were special functions 2 of the 3 nights on the 7th Floor (ballroom) and we could hear/feel the thump of the bass on the 4th floor (it was louder in the bathroom, for some reason). Front desk staff acknowledged the ”noise” and noted that the event would end at 11 p.m. Not sure I'd stay here again, given the potential for that level of disturbance. Otherwise a clean hotel with attentive staff in a handy location.

Location in proximity to city attractions is amazing 5/5. Location in terms of safety is 2/5. There isn’t a covered secured lot for your car and I was approached by many people asking me for money while taking a walk around the building. Service is hit or miss. When I arrived, and attempted to open my car door, I was accosted by the valet who yelled at me and asked me what I was TRYING to do. I told him I was checking in to the hotel. And he was aggressively unpleasant, seemingly angry that I had arrived. Conversely, the valet attendant the next day was polite and wonderful. The front desk was nice but did not review any of the amenities nor offer any information about the hotel, which is a shame. Nice but inattentive and uninterested. The service at both Idol Wolf and Good Press were 5/5. The food at both were 5/5. The hotel itself is gorgeous. There’s art set in an old gym. The renovation is well done. Enjoyed it very much. The view from the room was also very nice. The room itself was standard with a few attention to detail things needing addressed. Such as broken handles and non working bathroom fixtures. Overall would recommend this hotel because it is unique. Big plus - they allow pets!!! Yes!

Overall, I think this hotel used to be a really really nice hotel but has been sorely neglected for many years. It is not a bad place to stay but it isn’t what it once was either. Check in was easy in the lobby it’s pretty but you can tell that things have been left without being kept up. The people at the front task were very nice. Our room is a standard room and the first thing I always check out the bathroom for cleanliness. The bathroom is clean which is always a good sign. Overall the hotel was very clean so I felt really good about that. The bathroom is small and the toilet doesn’t feel like it is anchored to the floor because it rocks. In the shower, the faucet is pulled out of the wall and needs to be repaired. The TV has a good number of channels and the reception was good. The pool is an outdoor pool and it is about standard size for a hotel but it has clearly been neglected over the years. The water was coming and we felt safe swimming but everything else just seemed old. We went down for breakfast in the morning and the breakfast is very very minimal. They had eggs sausage biscuits and gravy bagels and cereal. There was only salt but no pepper, there was no milk for the cereal, and there were no toppings for the bagels.

Visited KC from New Zealand in June 23 with 2 things in mind, catching a Royals game and Tim Magraw in concert. The concert was a 10 minute walk away so it was the perfect place. The public tram stopped right outside so it was great to take us to museums and the market. The room was great, spacious shower and the concierge Robert was fantastic. Greeted with a big smile and the 3 days we were there that smile never left his face. Great restaurant Loeu'.s across the road made the Courtyard a great place to stay, The valet parking was very prompt and always friendly staff. The fresh cookies on arrival and when we returned every day were very good. Thank you to all inolved.
Residence Inn by Marriott St. Louis Downtown

I have stayed at this hotel many times. Every time I come to St. Louis to stay here, the main room can cook, there is a suite and there is a sofa bed, but the disadvantage is that the beds are slumped, very soft and uncomfortable. It is convenient to have a washer and dryer on each floor. Light meals and beer are available at around 5 pm from Monday to Thursday. They are provided free of charge. It is simple in the morning but still full. There are a lot of people on the weekends, mostly black but safe.

The location was great if you are attending an event at the soccer stadium, Union Station or the Enterprise Center. Easy to walk to all those locations. This property was easy to get to off the freeway and has on-site parking ($10/day). Hotel has been updated and was very nice. Beds were comfortable and the room was very clean. No free breakfast in the morning, but you can purchase food and coffee there. I would stay there again when going to downtown St. Louis.
