A huge plus is that I don't have to waste time at the airport queuing for a physical SIM card or renting a Pocket Wi-Fi router: internet is activated automatically upon arrival and passport control. The connection was stable throughout the entire trip (from Tokyo to Kyoto), the speed was excellent, and navigation on maps and messaging apps worked without the slightest glitch.
