Wuzhizhou Island

9.3
4.6/5
62.2k reviews

Wuzhizhou Island is located in Haitang Bay, Sanya, covering an area of approx. 1.48 square kilometers. Viewed from above, it takes on a natural heart shape and is also known as "Lover's Island." The island has a vegetation coverage rate of over 90%, and the surrounding seawater has high visibility with rich coral species, making it one of the few small islands around Hainan Island that boasts both freshwater resources and dense vegetation. The island's standout feature is its "sea, land, air, and underwater" four-in-one ocean experience. Underwater, there are four distinctive dive sites: Qilin Sea, Back Garden, Glass Fish Planet, and Little Universe. Qilin Sea is located in the waters north of Wuzhizhou Island, where an underwater shipwreck and a submerged Qilin statue are interspersed among coral conservation frames; Back Garden is located on the south side of the island and boasts the island's spectacular coral communities, with white sand channels winding between corals of various shapes; Glass Fish Planet is renowned for its fish tornadoes and underwater photography; Little Universe dive site is located north-by-east of Wuzhizhou Island, with a depth of 5-20 m, and is a tiny world for the small marine creatures of Wuzhizhou Island. Surface activities include dynamic speedboats, flyboards, rainbow parasailing, jet skis, and other new water entertainment introduced from abroad; in the air, you can experience a helicopter tour around the island. Whether you are a diving beginner or a water sports enthusiast, you can find a way to play that suits you. The land area on the island is equally worth exploring in detail. Lover's Bridge, originally an iron-chain bridge and now rebuilt as a wooden boardwalk, is a popular spot for couples; Sun-Watching Rock, located on the southeast cliff of the island, is a classic vantage point for watching the sunrise over the sea; the Private Custom Pool is widely known for being a filming location in the movie of the same name, and any casual snapshot carries a cinematic quality. The round-island road connects all the attractions, and it is recommended to set aside ample time to walk the entire route at a leisurely pace. A tropical marine ranch has been established in the waters around Wuzhizhou Island. By deploying artificial reefs to restore the coral reef ecosystem, tens of thousands of coral fragments have been planted, attracting groupers, sea urchins, sea cucumbers, prawns, turban shells, and various tropical fish to gather here, providing divers with rich underwater viewing content.

Located in Haitang Bay, Sanya, Atlantis Sanya is themed around the mystery of the lost continent of Atlantis and brings together a water park, an aquarium, marine animal interactions, and resident performances in one place. It is an ocean-culture-themed vacation destination, ideal for family-friendly households to take a few days to experience at a leisurely pace. Atlantis Water World is the main event of the day: climb the towering Poseidon's Tower and plunge down slides like "Leap of Faith" and "The Drop," while the "Shark Tunnel" slide takes you through a shark tank tunnel where you can see sharks through the glass; the park also features a rushing lazy river and a splash area for kids, so the whole family can have fun. The Lost Chambers Aquarium is centered on the Ambassador Lagoon. Standing before the giant transparent viewing wall over ten meters high, tens of thousands of marine creatures swim past in schools, beluga whales gracefully flick their tails in the water, and the mermaid performances and feeding fish from a crystal glass boat with a transparent bottom are also quite popular; the adjacent Dolphin Bay is an open-air habitat for dolphins and sea lions, where you can choose interactive programs by age and get up close to these ocean spirits. In the evening, the long-running C Show is staged at the C Show Theater; the water stunts and lighting effects on the three-dimensional stage spanning water, land, and air are a reason many families specifically stay. On your itinerary, it is recommended to visit the water world during the day and explore the aquarium or watch shows after dusk; this route is more relaxed and helps you avoid the midday sun.

- Distinct ring structures: The rings that make up the perimeter of the ring structure rise over 200-300 meters above the surrounding ground. The surrounding ridges are relatively continuous, with only the southwest edge experiencing a gap due to erosion by two streams [__LINK_ICON]. - Rich mineral diversity: Expert analysis of the meteorite breccia reveals as many as 49 new minerals, 14 mixed minerals, and 16 residual minerals, some of which are rarely found in nature [__LINK_ICON]. - Unique geological phenomenon: On the west side of Ejianling, where the sputtering layer is thickest, watches become magnetized and cameras automatically shut down, returning to normal operation upon leaving the area [__LINK_ICON].

Enjoyed my day trip to the island. Sceneries are pretty as what most other reviews mentioned. The buggy rides are convenient and made it easy to navigate. I enjoyed the animal stop (paw paradise) the most. The roaming ducks were super cute. Aslo saw little goats, pigs, alpaca, giant turtle etc. But did not see any capybaras. The downer was that the swimming area at the last stop was closed, no swimming allowed when I was there. Also note, beware that waves can be quite choppy for the ferry ride for those that get seasick.

The Atlantis Aquarium in Sanya is absolutely stunning! The enormous Lost Chambers aquarium makes you feel like you're in an underwater world, with over 86,000 marine creatures swimming in 13,500 tons of natural seawater. The beluga whale interaction is incredibly therapeutic, the jellyfish area is dreamy and beautiful, and every shot in the underwater tunnel is a masterpiece. It's definitely worth the ticket price for a family trip; you can learn something new and experience the wonders of the ocean. Highly recommended!

The scenic area was very clean, and the service was good. Unfortunately, we went at the wrong time; the rice had just been harvested. The staff told us the best time to visit is from March to May and from August to October each year. We'd definitely come again if we have the chance.

The youngest volcanic crater, Crocodile Mountain, and the ancient rock formations of Moon Bay are masterpieces of nature, breathtaking and awe-inspiring. The sunset at Shiluokou Beach and the sunrise at Wucai Beach offer a magnificent view of the sea and sky merging into one. The Western Shengtang Catholic Church and the Eastern Mazu Temple, with their mystical power, jointly protect the island's fishermen, ensuring their prosperity and safety. The brightly lit Nanwan Wharf is the best place to savor Weizhou Island's seafood. The exhilarating experience of strolling through banana plantations, the fun of early morning beachcombing, the thrill of speedboat rides around the island… and the warm hospitality of guesthouse owners offering pick-up and drop-off services, electric scooter rides around the island, and carefully prepared banana chicken and seafood… you'll always feel at home. You can't refuse Weizhou Island! You can't miss Weizhou Island! Stay for three to five days, escape the hustle and bustle, and embrace nature.

The glassy sea is amazing! The scenery is absolutely stunning! The fishing village was a bit... well, I just wanted to explore on my own. I kept getting asked if I wanted to rent an electric cart, so I did. For food, I recommend choosing restaurants with high ratings! The food I ate while wandering around was barely edible. When visiting West Island, it's best to bring some snacks and find a nice spot to sit, listen to the sea, watch the clouds, and just relax.

The Nanshan Guanyin Statue in Sanya is solemn and majestic. Standing 108 meters tall in the middle of the azure sea, the three-faced Guanyin is breathtaking from afar. Each of the three faces has a different design, rich in symbolism. Walking along the boardwalk allows for closer worship and a more tranquil atmosphere. The entire park is lush with greenery, the sea breeze is refreshing, and the Nanshan Temple exudes an ancient charm and profound Zen spirit. With the azure sea on one side and Buddhist culture on the other, it offers both scenic beauty and cultural depth, making it ideal for quiet prayer and photography. The park is quite large, so it's recommended to allow ample time for a leisurely visit. The downsides are that it gets very crowded during holidays, leading to long queues, and the food prices within the park are relatively high. Overall, this is not only a landmark in Sanya but also a place where one can find inner peace and experience the Zen-like tranquility of the mountains and sea.
