Qishan Zhougongmiao, a national key cultural relic protection unit and national AAAA tourist attraction, is the largest surviving and most complete Zhougongmiao (1) of the similar buildings in China. Located at the south foot of Phoenix Mountain, six kilometers northwest of Qishan County, Shaanxi Province, it covers an area of 620,000 square meters. This place is described in the Book of Songs as : A person with a roll, a wind from the south". According to archaeologists'textual research, as early as 6000 years ago, there were ancestors living near mountains and springs in the area of Vol'a. During the rise of Zhou Dynasty, many famous events took place near Chuan'a. Phoenix was a god bird worshipped by the Zhou nationality with the surname of Ji. There are many places and sites related to Phoenix in the vicinity of Gu'an, such as Phoenix Mountain, Fengminggang and "Phoenix Trace of Danxue" etc. (2) Zhou Gongdan retired to Vol'a in his later years. After his death, he built ancestral temples and offered sacrifices. In the Western Weekend, Gujuan'a buildings were destroyed and rebuilt after Qin and Han Dynasties. In the first year of Tang Wude (618), Li Yuan, Gaozu of Tang Dynasty, in memory of Zhou Gongdan, who helped King Wu destroy commerce and establish his country, and assisted Wang Ping to rebel against Anbang, ordered him to create the Zhou Gong Temple in his "Vol A" ritual making music. After the repair and expansion of the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, a group of ancient buildings with Wednesday Gong (Zhou Gong, Zhao Gong, Tai Gong) Hall as the main body, Jiang Wei, Houji Hall as the auxiliary, pavilions, terraces and pavilions adorned with brilliant reflections was formed.
