Zhangye, a city under the jurisdiction of Gansu Province. Named after "Zhang Guojie, Tongxi Region", it is located in the middle section of Hexi Corridor, northwest Gansu Province, China. The ancient name "Ganzhou" is the origin of the word "Ganzhou" in Gansu Province, known as "Sangma Land", "Land of Fishing Rice". Rich in wheat, corn, rice, beans, oils, melons and fruits, vegetables, the industry has more than 10 departments such as coal, machinery, textiles, brewing. Local products include onion, apple and pear, Wujiang rice, jujube, hair dish, silk road spring wine, etc. Zhangye City covers an area of 40874 square kilometers and has a population of 1.31 million. It administers Ganzhou District, Linze County, Gaotai County, Shandan County, Minle County and Sunan Yugur Autonomous County. The Heihe River, the second largest inland river in the whole country, runs through the whole territory. It is the commodity grain base of Gansu Province. Zhangye has the largest military horse racetrack in Asia, a national wetland reserve approved by the State Council, and Zhangye National Geological Park, which has been awarded "Ten Magical Geographic Wonders of the World" by the magazine National Geography of the United States. Zhangye has a long history, splendid culture, beautiful natural scenery and unique human landscape. Since ancient times, it has the reputation of "Saisheng Jiangnan" and "Jinzhangye". The ancients have a poem that "do not look at the snow on the top of Qilian Mountain, mistake Zhangye as the south of the Yangtze River". In the city, there are large Buddhist temples, wooden pagoda temples, Tuta temples, Xilai temples, Horseshoe temples, Zhenyuan Tower, Shanxi Guild Hall, Minqin Guild Hall, Heishui State Site and other places of interest and historic interest.
