"Ningxia Dunhuang" Xumishan Grottoes, one of the top ten grottoes in China, the largest grotto group in Ningxia, enjoy the reputation of "the first grotto in the north road of the east section of the Silk Road". One of the earliest grottoes excavated in China was built in Northern Wei, and the Western Wei, Beizhou, Yuan, Tang, Song, Ming and other dynasties continued to build and repair. It has been the first largest Buddhist temple site on the westbound road of Chang'an for a long time, and it has a history of more than 1,500 years. There are 162 existing caves in size and more than 1,000 statues, scattered on 8 peaks that stretch 2 kilometers. Surrounded by the typical Danxia landform, you can also enjoy the unique Danxia landscape while enjoying the cave statues. The fifth cave was dug in the Tang Wuzetian period (624-705), commonly known as the "Big Buddha Building", a Maitreya Buddha with a height of 20.6 meters is magnificent, higher than the 19th cave in Yungang Grottoes, which sits on the Buddha and the Lushena Buddha of Fengxian Temple in Longmen Grottoes, and is one of the largest grotto statues in the country. Come to the foot of the Buddha, you can see it with a dignified and kind attitude, full face, and superb carving. In terms of the artistic characteristics of its statue, the characteristics of the Buddha statue of Sumishan and the Lushena Buddha of Longmen Fengxian Temple are very similar to the characteristics of female gentleness, which is naturally related to Wu Zetian, reflecting the background of statue art and aesthetic fashion at that time.
