2002年底，备受市民关注、总造价约1．3亿元的汕头星湖公园向游人开放。公园内的人工小山遍植大叶紫薇、金凤、垂柳等乔灌木，7个小湖边垂柳依依。园内的小径斗转蛇行，小径及众多的花坛铺上彩色的地锦砖和大理石，显得亮丽迷人；两座小桥飞架湖面，有4个漫水箱涵和11座盖板涵。凉亭、花架、花坛点缀于园区内，布局合理协调。公园配套的羽毛球场、网球场等运动场地。星湖公园位于三脚关沟，北起泰山路，南至中山东路，园区周围高楼林立，居住人口不断增多。公园的建设，成为东区居民又一处游玩休闲的好去处。它和市内其他公园不同，没有围墙，没有大门，全方位开放。虽然到别的公园凭着老人证也不必买票，但通过指定的大门经过有人守卫的闸口，心情远不如这里随处自由进出那么舒畅。设计者把一道贯通南北的三脚关沟，连同其两边长长的绿地，营造出如诗如画的三百亩星湖公园。这个独具特色的被长平路和韩江路拦腰截成三段的带状公园，如今已成了附近居民体育锻炼、休闲娱乐的宝地。公园北段几座匠心独到的木头独脚小亭坐落在旷地周边，中段的现代风格亭台点缀在湖水之上，南段的凉亭则伫立于湖心岛上。北段面积较小，众多跳舞做操的人布满宽阔的石板广场，特别热闹；南段处处绿树掩映，湖心岛幽静得多；中段面积最大，体育设施最多，不愧为“全民健身广场”。无论公园的哪个角落，湖边垂柳依依，小径斗转蛇行，树荫底下，绿草茵茵，都是晨练爱好者们的天地。打太极拳的，跳健身操的，舞刀弄枪的，不少人身着统一服装，自带音响设备，动作正规，步调划一，令人瞩目。经常见到几位白发老太太结伴散步，一路说说笑笑；拄着拐杖坐着轮椅的老者，坐在长廊下憩息，几个人凑在一块谈天说地；一位长者天天拄着手杖艰难行走在园中小路上，一定是病后正坚持康复锻炼，其老伴总是紧跟其后，令人感动……

Xinghu Park plantes some windy Suzuki flowers, and yellow flowers are covered with branches. Every flower season, there are many people who enjoy flowers. Parking nearby should be parked in the lined parking space and parked for free.
