The Washington Monument, located in the center of the National Square, was established to commemorate the first President of the United States, Washington. It is the central axis of Washington, along with Congress and the Lincoln Memorial. The 555-foot-tall monument, which rises like an obelisk, is the tallest stone building in the world, and no building in Washington can surpass it. A Christmas pine tree in front of it is the highlight here every Christmas.
