The Way of the Cross - Via Dolorosa Review

Fourteen stops on the road, now a bumpy stone road in Jerusalem's Old City. Some of the biblical stories that happened before Jesus died constitute the sites of the fourteen stops. Now marked one by one, the end of the road is the church of the Holy Sepulchre that was built after Jesus' death.

The hard road is the process of Jesus's martyrdom from judgment and conviction, carrying the cross to the final death. The first nine stops were in Jerusalem's old city, and Jesus suffered, fell three times, and bid farewell to his mother. The rest were in the church of the Holy Sepulchre. It was more than 800 meters long. There are devout believers carrying the cross, singing the chant, and returning to the road of suffering. As tourists, we can also feel the atmosphere.

The bitter road is the only way to Jerusalem. In the old city of Jerusalem, there is a road without a number, which has been commemorated by Christians since the first century. It is "Hard Road" ("VIA DOLOROSA"). After Jesus was condemned to death, he walked through the streets of Jerusalem with a heavy cross on his back at the command of Pilate, governor of Rome, step by step to the execution site, and was crucified. He stayed fourteen times, fourteen of which were "14 stops on Kulu Road". In 1731, Pope Craymond XII confirmed the fourteen landmarks where Jesus had stayed on the road of distress, so he had the idea of fourteen stops on the road of distress . Many Christians came to Jerusalem to make pilgrimages in the form of hard roads, which are also known as worship hard roads . Most visitors to Jerusalem will also walk along the 14-stop hard road. So it's also the most famous hiking route in the old city of Jerusalem. It's 1.4 kilometers long and the last five stops are in the present Church of the Holy Sepulcher. The first stop was the Conviction Church, the former Rome Examination and Approval Office, where the Governor of Rome flogged Jesus and sentenced him to death. Roman soldiers crowned Jesus with thorns and put on purple robes. The second stop is Jesus'cross on his back. Jesus went out of the judgment hall, took up the cross in front of the door, went west along the street, and embarked on the bitter road. At the third stop, Jesus fell for the first time, and at the fourth stop, Jesus saw in the crowd the Virgin Mary at the fifth stop, Simon carrying the cross with Jesus at the sixth stop, Veronica wiping Jesus'cheeks. The handkerchief left the face of Jesus. The seventh stop, the second fall, the eighth stop, Jesus spoke to the weeping woman. The ninth stop, the fourteenth stop, the second floor of the Church of the Holy Tomb, Jesus was stripped of his coat and crucified to death. They were laid down on a stone bed, wiped, anointed, wrapped and buried in the sacred tomb. The murals in the Church of the Holy Cemetery record the process of Jesus being lowered from the cross, wiped and wrapped up until he was buried. Three days later, Jesus rose to heaven. The holy sites in the church are the places where Christians make pilgrimages. They need to wait in line, especially for the second floor altar, the first floor of the holy tomb and the large number of Christians. This historical record of Jesus going to Golgotha (Skeleton Mountain) to the crucifixion and murder makes people feel the pain of Jesus when he suffered for human beings.

The Bible records that Jesus Christ carried a heavy cross and stayed fourteen times along the way. Today, people mark the 14 places. When Christians go to the Holy City, they have to walk fourteen stops to understand the spirit of Christ. The first is the death sentence of Jesus in the City Hall. Jesus was falsely accused by the elders of testifying for the truth and sentenced "to crucify him". The second is Jesus'cross in front of the City Hall. 3rd Jesus fell down on the road for the first time. The fourth Jesus met his mother on his way, and now there is a Notre Dame church. The 5th Sigman band carried the cross. The sixth woman wiped the face for Jesus. The seventh time Jesus fell down. Jesus counseled the women of Jerusalem. At that time, the people followed Jesus, and some women wept bitterly for him. Jesus turned to them and said, - "The woman of Jerusalem, do not cry for me, but for herself and her children. " Ninth Jesus fell for the third time. When Jesus fell, he put his hand on the wall, which left Jesus'fingerprints. 10th Jesus was stripped of his clothes. Nail 11, frame 10. The nails were hammered into Jesus'wrists, feet, and he was almost unconscious every time he struck. Jesus died on the cross. The 13th body of Jesus was unloaded from the cross. Jesus was buried in the tomb. The public order is still good, and the army and police are carrying guns in the streets. As a tourist, I walk 14 stops in an hour and a half following the miracles of that year to experience Christ and religion. After entering the Lion Gate, we are looking for the fourteenth station of Kulu Road. Later, I learned that the Lion Gate is the first stop on the bitter road. Originally, I was sure to fall a few stops, but I didn't expect to meet a group of believers carrying the cross on the hard road, and we followed along all the way, which is the whole journey. When they stop at each stop to recite the sutras, we can look at the data and see that they are not in a hurry. It's a good way for people who want to walk hard to follow in this way.

After we left Temple Hill, we began to follow the hard road that Jesus carried the cross to the execution site in the old city, looking for the 14 stops he had experienced, along which believers cruised. I've seen a film about the Passion of Jesus before, and I don't know if it was filmed here on the spot.
