This religious and historic monument from the 17th century is definitely worth a visit (and worth paying a fee for taking photographs). There were very few people during our visit (late afternoon) and it was nice to enjoy the site in quiet and serene atmosphere. The centerpiece of the complex, lavishly decorated with reliefs and stucco figures on the outside, is Santa Casa – a copy of the Virgin Mary’s house from Italian town of Loreto. The most impressive and valuable religious treasure (stored in a vault with heavy security) is gold-plated, diamond encrusted monstrance. The interior of the church has many interesting statues and decorations (like a bearded woman on a cross). The chapel is known for its carillon with 30 bells that ring every hour.
