Ta Som Review

Ta Som is one of the secondary type temples in Angkor. Still very impressive on its own, but tends to be skipped by many people. Go right through to the back to see a Ta Phrom type tree holding up the temple.

Although Ta Som is part of the Grand Tour, it is frequently skipped by tourists who are more interested in visiting the better-known sites in the park. If you choose to visit this often-overlooked temple, you will be well rewarded for the effort.

The whole structure of this temple was built from sandstone and laterite, and surrounded by a moat enclosed by three laterite walls. As with neighboring sites Preah Khan Temple and Neak Poan Temple, very little restoration work has been done on Ta Som Temple.

Ta Som Temple is a small temple where is located in Angkor archaeological park, about 18 kilometers from the Siem Reap city. This temple was built in the end of 12th century to the early 13th century by King Jayavarman VII.
