Free attractions. 100 meters east of the Independence Monument, in the middle of Independence Square, stands the bronze statue of Sihanouk. Sihanouk died in Beijing on October 15, 2012, aged 90. The Royal Government of Cambodia, for the sake of the father of independence and national reconciliation in Cambodia, Norodom Si Hanuk expressed gratitude for his historic contribution to national sovereignty, national reconciliation, peace and development. The memorial hall was built on February 20, 2013, and was completed on October 8. The pagoda where the bronze statue is placed is 27 meters high, the bronze statue is4.5 meters high, and the pagoda is decorated with gold foil.
