Located in front of the Central Station, Segel Square is Stockholm's busiest cultural square, adjacent to the cultural center and the municipal theatre. Because the studio of the famous 18th century sculptor John Tobias Segel was just north of the square, it was named after him. Segel Square is oval in shape. The central area is a large fountain built by architect Edbin Estrome. A glass pillar is about 37 meters high. At night, the light of the glass pillar opens and shines with charming brilliance. People call it crystal pillar.
