Seoul Square was a classic venue for street cheerleading during the 2002 World Cup in Korea and Japan, and since May 2004, it has changed into a grass park and appeared in front of people. The grass park, which measures 12,540 square metres and is open oval, is connected by a sidewalk to the main entrance of the city hall and will be used as a space for citizens to rest, gather or hold cultural events. The planned reduction of the area of the driveway in front of the Guanghua Gate and around Chongli Gate, which were originally a major traffic road, will create a pedestrian-centered leisure and entertainment space for pedestrians. Visitors can roam freely in the bustling downtown area and experience the historical and cultural changes in downtown Seoul.
