The Grottoes, located in Tuhan Mountain, Gyeongju City, are 4 kilometers away from the Buddha Temple and were listed as a world cultural heritage in 1995. The Grottoes are also the 24th national treasure in South Korea. The Grottoes were created by Jin Dacheng during the King Shilla period, along with the Buddha Temple. Originally known as: Shifo Temple, Jindacheng built for his former parents, and Buddha Temple for his current parents. The cave is not large in size, the stones are neatly piled up, and it feels like a cave when you walk in, so it is called Grotto. The Buddha statue of Sakyamuni is worshipped in the temple. Standing below, looking up at the tall Buddha statue, there will be a sense of sacredness in the bottom of my heart. Because the Buddha statue is facing the east, the sun will hit the Buddha statue after sunrise, so Koreans call this Buddha statue "Smiling of the Silla people".
