The central square of the old city of Kutaisi turned right up the mountain after crossing the bridge north, and the first intersection after the open ground on the mountain turned right. The Baghrat Cathedral was built in 1003 by the king who ruled the area at the time. But gunpowder exploded in 1692 when the Turkish garrison was destroyed. The Bagarat castle was built in the 6th century AD and was destroyed in the Russian-Turkish War of 1769.
