The Chicago River used to be a meandering marsh. A few years ago, fishing and swimming were unreachable goals because of the serious pollution of the river. But today that vision is a reality. The latest progress in water quality and the improvement of the intensity of public recreational use along the river reflect the increase of life along the river and call for a new connection to the shore. In response to these calls, the Chicago Department of Transport began implementing the Riverside Walkway Project, which uses new space to enrich various parts of the system, including the very successful Veterans Memorial Square and Wabash Square.

5/5OutstandingOne of my favorite places in Chicago! The Riverwalk is very well maintained, and the night view is very beautiful. There are some bars that you can sit down the enjoy the view. It can get crowded during summer (but was closed temporarily due to COVID). On one side is the great view of the art projection on Merchandise Mart, and if you continue walking toward the lake, it can get pretty close to navy pier (still requires some additional walking, but wouldn’t be too far). St Patrick’s day will be very fun to see the green river! maw mandi dulu ah
