Qianfo Cliff Review

On the south side of the Xingguo Temple, it is an earlier statue group in Jinan City, which is valuable for studying Buddhism in the Sudden Age of China. On the cliff, there are Buddha statues carved in the seven years (587) to the fifteen years (595) of the Sudden Emperor. There are 9 caves, with more than 130 honors. Guangyuan Qianfo Cliff is the largest grotto group in Sichuan. The cliff statues began in the Northern Wei period and have been through nearly 1500 years. They are covered with statues and caves, overlapping 13 floors and dense as hives. Only in 1935 when building the Sichuan-Shaanxi Highway, more than half of the statues were destroyed, and now the only remaining caves have more than 400, and the size of the statues is more than 7,000. The Qianfoya was built by the river, which is quite spectacular. The Sichuan-Shaanxi Road passed from below it, forming the organic unity of the river, road, mountain and Buddha.
