Pompeii Archaeological Park Review

Before the beginning of the AD, the famous geographer Strabo concluded that it was an extinct volcano based on the topographic features of Vesuvius, and people believed his argument completely and didn't care about it. Green crops were planted on both sides of the volcano, lemon and orange forests were strewn across the plain, and other orchards and vineyards were unaware that a devastating catastrophe was brewing in the "dead volcano". A strong earthquake struck the area on February 8, 62, causing the collapse of many buildings, many of which we see today in Pompeii.
