The bustling market town of Bergama is famous for having the temple of Asclepios. It has been a town since Troy, and the most prosperous time was the Asian Minor period, which was known from the Alexander the Great period. At the time, it was one of the richest and most powerful small kingdoms in the Middle East. The city of Bergama was listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2014.
