The Great Onofo Fountain is located at the entrance of the Old Town Pelle Gate, built in the 15th century and was originally designed to draw water into the city from the Dubrovacka River 12 kilometers away, providing water for the city of Dubrovnik. Due to the severe damage in the Great Earthquake of 1667, it has lost its water diversion function and is now only used as a monument for tourists to visit.
