My Teen daughter and I called in at 5pm for a late lunch. First we had to pay to enter the 'Mimosa' tourist complex, although we had no intention of using it. Cost was 150 THB each but be warned. If you are a tourist you will be charged 600 THB each. This before you have tasted anything! The restaurant was empty when we arrived, Elvis on the music system. We ordered the German Pork Knuckle, our benchmark for German restaurants. The a/c was switched off, door open and a large stand fan was pointed at us (it was 41 degrees outside). The place was full of flies. I ordered a Stein of Oktoberfest Draught beer which was ice cold and excellent. 3 casual dressed staff only were inattentive. One girl had a tiny baby set up on one of the tables and we were subjected to the whole gamut of feeding, diaper changing and screaming the entire visit. The food was hopeless. Local scorched pork leg deep fried in stale oil after waiting 30 minutes. It was terrible. We called it a day and left them to the flies and the baby, Dolly Parton on the music system, still nobody else in the restaurant. I am unsure where the word 'German' fit in to this very Thai style offering and service. If a lively German 'Oktoberfest' atmosphere with authentic Bavarian food and music is what you seek, you will not find it here, even after paying the 600 THB entrance fee. Stay home, keep your money and try your hand at roasting your own pork knuckles. I promise they will turn out far superior to these. However, there was the draught beer.......
