New Orleans Oak Manor Oak Alley Plantation is about 40 minutes drive from the city center. It is the prototype manor of the famous novel "Gone" and the location of the movie "Gone with the Wind". Oak Manor is named after the manor's large house with 28 huge oak lanes in front of it. The Oak Manor was built in 1837 and covers 24 acres. It wanders through the manor and echoes the story of Scarlett and Barry Redd.
