Nanzhuangtou Site is located about 2 kilometers northeast of Nanzhuangtou Village, Xushui County, Hebei Province. It is surrounded by ancient cultural sites such as Nihewan, Zhoukoudian, and Peak Cave. It is the earliest Neolithic site in northern China in the age, about 10500 ~ 9700 years ago. The site area is about 20,000 square meters, and the relics found have 5 gray ditches, 2 gray pits and 2 fire relics. The unearthed relics are rich in species, including stone milling disks, stone mill rods, bone cones, bone needles, seeds and a small amount of sand-covered deep gray pottery, sand-covered red and brown pottery, stone flakes and ditches, and there are also animal bones such as rats, chickens, dogs, wolves, pigs, deer, etc. Some of the bones have barbecue, cutting marks. The discovery of Nanzhuangtou site fills the gap between Cishan and Ligang Neolithic culture in northern China and the late Paleolithic culture, which has important academic value, and provides a precious stratigraphic profile for studying the changes of the Holocene climate in northern China. In addition, the rich relics from the site provide very important materials for studying the cultural characteristics of early Neolithic culture in northern China and the origin of agriculture, breeding and pottery industry.
