Mengshan Giant Buddha is a Buddha statue after Kaihua Temple. Kaihua Temple was built in 559 AD (Beiqi Tianbao two years), Beiqi Wenxuan Emperor Gaoyang Giant Buddha gave Ekaihua Temple. After the Mongshan Giant Buddha, the stone was cut and built, and the Buddha statue was carved by the mountain one mile after the temple, that is, the Mongshan Giant Buddha. The age of the Mengshan Giant Buddha was disputed. A view is that according to the records of Taiyuan Zhi Taiyuan County in the Yongle Dictionary, the opening of the Mengshan Giant Buddha began in Beiqi Tianbao for two years. Another view, according to the records of Ming Jiajing "Taiyuan County Zhi" and Ming Chenghua "Shanxi Tongzhi", believes that the opening of the Mengshan Giant Buddha was built in Kaihua Temple, that is, two years later than Tianbao. Some researchers according to the five generations Su Shugui "Repair Mengshan Kaihua Temple solemn pavilion" in the end of the northern Qi Wenxuan emperor Tianbao, stone chiselled to the top, Yishan engraving statue, think the opening of the Mengshan Giant Buddha began in 559 AD (Ten Years of Tianbao).
