Leifeng Tower, also known as the Imperial Fei Tower and Xiguan Brick Tower, is located on Leifeng Mountain on the south bank of Xizhao Mountain, West Lake Scenic Area, Hangzhou City, capital of Zhejiang Province. Leifeng Tower was first built in 977 AD, and was built by Wu Yuezhong - Wang Qian - to worship Buddha snails. It is said that it was built to celebrate the birth of the pet concubine Huang's son, so it was named "the royal concubine tower". Later, because the peak where it is located was called "Leifeng", and gradually became known as "Leifeng Tower". In the Chinese folk tale "White Snake", Fahai monks deceived Xu Xian to Jinshan, and Bai Niangzi flooded Jinshan to save Xu Xian, which was under the Leifeng Tower in Fahai Town. The old Leifeng Tower collapsed in 1924 and was rebuilt. The newly built Leifeng Tower is China's first colored bronze sculpture pagoda. Leifeng Xizhao is one of the ten scenic spots of West Lake and is one of the famous tourist attractions of West Lake in Hangzhou.
