New Zealand's third largest lake, lightning-like, has beautiful scenery, and the Dart River flows into its northern end. The Kawelau River, which originated in Queenstown, is merged with it at the lake's exit. The lake is located in a separate, glacier-formed ditch. It is surrounded by mountains. The highest mountain is Mount Ernslow (2819 meters above sea level). The towns around the lake area include Queenstown, Kingston Village, Greenock and Kinglock. It is also a concentration of outdoor activities in New Zealand.
