Labrang Temple is located in Xiahe County, Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Gansu Province, referred to as Taxiqi Temple, commonly known as Labrang Temple. Labrang Temple is an inflection of Tibetan "Lazhang", meaning the mansion of the living Buddha master. It is one of the six major monasteries of Tibetan Buddhism Gelu, known as the "World Tibetan Academy" in the world. Tourism opened to the public in 1980.
