The main building of the museum adopts the concept of Longus Long House to build and design the roof of the building with several outward-looking beams like an Islamic dancer with outstretched arms. The exterior designers of the Science and Education Center pavilion cleverly adopted bamboo-woven hats that represent the customs of Sabah Aboriginal people. The Folklore Pavilion also houses a collection of original tools, weapons and crafts reflecting the evolution of Sabah's diverse indigenous culture and natural history, some of which were unearthed early, and have been identified by archaeologists in Malaysia as having a history of 28,000 years. The exhibition halls of porcelain and traditional clothing showcase the traces of the early trade activities and links between the multiracial people of Sabah and China and neighbouring island regions and Southeast Asian countries. It is worth remembering that there are also many heroes, fighters and dead politicians fighting for Sabah's liberation from colonial rule, and their literature, relics, and so on.
