The castle, which is meant to be the "Crowne Palace", was built in 1574 and completed in 1585. The capital came from the toll tax imposed by King Frederick II (1559 - 1588) on ships passing through the Orson Strait. The castle was designed and built by Dutch architects. Made of rock, the brown copper roof is majestic and spectacular, and is the most exquisite Renaissance architecture in northern Europe. On the wall of the palace, there is a statue of Shakespeare's memorial floating, which is said to have written the immortal tragedy Hamlet in the background of the Castleburg Palace.
