Kanchanaburi War Cemetery Review

This war cemetery in Kanchanaburi was built as a memorial for soldiers who lost their lives while serving the cause. It was very sad to see young boys sacrificing themselves, and the message on each tomb makes you wanna cry.

Phanmit Don Rak Cemetery is a cemetery of war prisoners being asked by Japanese to make the Death Railway. It is a very sad learning center.

The War Cemetery is just 10 minutes walk from the Kanchanaburi train station. There is only a brief history write out both in English and Thai. A peaceful place to pay respect to those who had sacrifice building the River Kwai Bridge and railways.

แล้วพบ “กาญ” อีกครั้ง นะจ๊ะบุรี 😎สุสานทหารสัมพันธมิตรดอนรัก” หรือ “สุสานทหารสหประชาชาติ” หรือที่ชาวจังหวัดกาญจนบุรีทั่วไปเรียกว่า “ป่าช้าอังกฤษ” เป็นสุสานขนาดใหญ่บนพื้นที่ 17 ไร่ บรรจุศพเชลยศึกที่เสียชีวิตระหว่างการสร้างทางรถไฟสายมรณะถึง 6,982 หลุม โดยเชลยศึก 300 คนเสียชีวิตด้วยอหิวาตกโรคและฝังไว้ที่ค่ายนิเกะ (ประมาณ 15 กิโลเมตร ก่อนถึงด่านเจดีย์สามองค์) ส่วนที่เหลือได้จากหลุมฝังศพเชลยศึกตามค่ายต่างๆและยังมีสุสานช่องไก่ ซึ่งรัฐบาลไทยและฝ่ายสัมพันธมิตรได้ตกลงกันเมื่อวันที่ 24 สิงหาคม พ.ศ. 2497 เพื่อสร้างสุสานสองแห่งนี้ขึ้น บรรยากาศในสุสานเงียบสงบและร่มรื่น พื้นที่ภายในได้รับการตกแต่งไว้อย่างเป็นระเบียบสวยงาม เหนือหลุมฝังศพทุกหลุมมีแผ่นทองเหลืองจารึก ชื่อ อายุ และประเทศของผู้เสียชีวิต บรรทัดสุดท้ายเป็นคำไว้อาลัยที่โศกเศร้า
