Saint James is the patron saint of sailors, and in Hanseatic cities highly dependent on sea transportation, the safety of sailors is the safety of cities, so every Hanseatic city has a Church of St. James. The church of St. James in Lübeck has a ship built in, supposedly to commemorate a shipwreck, while praising the heroic sailors.
