The former site of Hunan Provincial First Normal School, also known as Mao Zedong and the First Normal Memorial Hall, is located at No. 356 Shuyuan Road, Tianxin District, Changsha City. Its predecessor was the Chengnan College founded in the Song Dynasty (1161), which is a veritable "millennium school, 100-year teacher". In 1903, it was renamed Hunan Normal University. It was upgraded to an undergraduate college in 2008 and renamed Hunan First Normal University. Now it is a school, mainly to visit Chairman Mao and the First Normal University Memorial Hall. The hall is closed on Monday and open from Tuesday to Sunday. Many outstanding figures in modern Chinese history have studied and worked here, including a generation of great people Chairman Mao has studied and worked here for eight years.
