Holy Metropolitan Church of the Annunciation to the Virgin Mary Review

Athens Metropolitan Church is located in the historical center of Athens, Metropolis Avenue. It is a special place for the celebration of the Virgin Mary. This Christian church was built between 1842 and 1862. The original architectural drawings were drawn by Theophilus Hansen, but later on, Dr. Zepos's advice was adopted and the Greco-Byzantine style was followed. Finally, the Byzantine traditional style of the church was well integrated with the classical elements of Europe.

You can visit it free of charge, but the lights are dim, dark, and the atmosphere is depressed. You can't appreciate it very much. There is a small square outside and there are several good gift shops around it.

And most of Athens is a church. But I dare not go in. I just feel like I'm looking outside.

Athens is full of relics and used to be a cathedral in the city. Although now shrouded in the shadow of the Athens Catholic Church, its beautiful posture and historical value make the cathedral on the other side dwarf.
