Golden Dragon Review

We had lunch here at Golden Dragon a few a weeks back. An interesting menu, wonderful meal that was perfectly served. The servers here are very pleasant. The food was absolutely wonderful, from preparation to presentation, very pleasing.Must try!

I recently visited Golden Dragon with my family for our anniversary, and needless to say, it was one of the best decisions i ever made. I am personally a hardcore fan of Chinese cuisine, and i have tried a lot of Chinese restaurants in Sri Lanka. But golden dragon was by far the best i have been to. We ordered Seafood rice, hot butter cuttle fish, sweet & sour pork and a crispy lamb dish. The food was absolutely heavenly, and all of the flavors were so well balanced. The flavors simply exploded in your mouth. Hats off to the chef! The ambiance of the location is also star class. And i also must commend a waiter who was there by the name of "Vajira" who offered us a star class and highly courteous service. He treated me and my family very well, and looked into all our needs. We will be definitely going back there soon.

Although this establishment can boast of some good staff & excellent service, the food is definitely sub standard. For years now I have been a patron of the Golden Dragon at Taj Hotel, Mumbai and hence I was quite excited when I located a Golden Dragon at Taj Samudra & decided to have dinner on my visit to Colombo. Unfortunately the food served here was unappetising, flavourless & disappointing. The rice noodles with chilli vegetables ordered was vermicelli with barely any vegetables & no chilli, absolutely bland. The Kungpao potatoes tasted foul. The honey & chilli stir fried water chestnuts were OK, but a bit on the sweeter side. I was told they were made from frozen chestnuts. Not happy. The manager brought in a noodle dish as a replacement. I did try the noodles, they were better then the previous dish but not the best and nowhere near the Golden Dragon noodles I am used to, they were sent back too. What a disastrous meal, My wife and me walked out hungry. The manager did extend his apologies & his consideration on the discounted bill is appreciated but Taj get your act right, stop calling this restaurant a Golden Dragon when its not half as good as the iconic Golden Dragon in Mumbai
