Ghent Review

Ghent is a port city in northwestern Belgium at the intersection of the Ley and Skelder rivers. In the Middle Ages, Ghent was a famous urban country, the largest and richest city in northern Europe at the time. Today Ghent is a university town and cultural center, and its pedestrianised urban center is known for medieval architecture.

Before going to Belgium, I heard that Ghent is a place to go. Later, I really went to Belgium and included the city in the itinerary. In fact, when I first came out of Ghent Railway Station, I was not surprised. It feels similar to ordinary European cities, and when I walked to a certain section of the road, the roadside was engaged in construction projects and I ate my face. But when it was getting closer and closer to the center of the old city, it felt more and more different. The central city retains many medieval buildings, but it is not lost in vitality. Several churches are very distinctive, especially the Church of St. Bavo. In addition, there are two museums in the city park. We visited one of them. There are few people and the place is great.

Ghent is one of the most worthwhile cities in Belgium, not one. Although Brussels, Bruges, and Antwerp are more famous, because of the worrying security situation in Brussels, Bruges are too commercial, and Antwerp industrial enterprises are relatively polluted, and Ghent perfectly maintains the ancient city style and the city is quiet and harmonious. It gives people a feeling of wanting to slow down.
