It is said that when the foundation was laid, a white turtle was dug from the ground, and it was dedicated to the court, and the emperor gave the name "Fabao Zen Temple".

Fabao Temple, located in Bailu Town, Rugao City, Jiangsu Province, formerly known as Shengjiao Temple, was built in Taihe four years (830 AD) in the Tang Dynasty, and was unfortunately burned in the fire. In the first year of the Song Dynasty to the Heyuan (1054 AD), the Fabao Temple was rebuilt on the original site, and was listed as one of the "Eight Jungles of Weiyang". One of the books and painters of Yangzhou Eight Monsters in the Qing Dynasty, Zheng Banqiao, wrote the Tibetan Jinglou for the monastery title, and the incense was full. It is said that the Japanese high monk Yuanren in the Tang Dynasty, Yue Fei, the hero of the anti-jin of the Southern Song Dynasty, and Wen Tianxiang, the left-du-du-history Shenqi, the poet Yuan Mei, etc., have browsed and sang the Fabao Temple records.
