The most famous street in Edinburgh is Princes Street, which faces Edinburgh Castle and Old Town and spans the geographic ripples of the old North Lake. In 1995, the Old Town and the New Town were listed as World Heritage Edinburgh Old Town by the United Nations Educational Science and Cultural Organization (Auld Toun, also known as Edinburgh Old Town) which refers to the part of the old city of Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland. The city retains many buildings from the Middle Ages in Europe and during the Scottish Reform Movement.
