Hundreds of years ago, residents of Easter Island carved huge human sculptures (moai) in volcanic stone in the image of their ancestors, placing them in important positions in the village to protect the villagers. There are different theories about how the people transported these giant moae, and one of my favorite theories is that moae traveled by themselves to where they were supposed to go.
