Dongguan Street Historical District Review

Yangzhou Dongguan Street is located in Yangzhou City, Jiangsu Province, is the most representative historical street in Yangzhou City. It is east to the ancient canal and west to Guoqing Road, the length of 1122 meters. Dongguan Street was not only the main road of land and water transportation in Yangzhou, but also a commercial, crafts and religious and cultural center. The "old-fashioned" merchants on Dongguan Street have four Mei Sauce Gardens opened in 1817, Xie Xuchun Xiangfan Shop in 1830, Pan Guanghe Hardware Store in 1862, Xia Guangsheng Tofu Store in 1901, Chen Tongxing Shoes Store in 1909, Dry Dachang Paper Store in 1912, Zhentai Chang Xiangfan Store in 1923, Zhang Hongxing Pawnshop in 1936, Qingfeng Tea Shop in 1938, Siliu Spring Tea Shop in 1940, Xiefeng South Goods Store in 1941, Ling Daxing Tea Shop in 1945, Fuji Pawnshop in 1946, in addition to Zhou Guangxing Hat Shop, Hengmao Youmao Shop, Shuntai South Goods Store, Hengtai Xiang Color Store, Zhu Deji Flour Store, etc. Dongguan Street is the concentration of Yangzhou crafts industry. The front and back shops of the company are all over the street, such as Shunxing Umbrella Store, Cao Shunxing Laopu, Sun Zhuchen Paint Workshop, Yuantaixiang Sugar Workshop, Sun Ji Jade Workshop, Dong Houhe Sock Factory, etc. Closely connected to Dongguan Street is the ancient block of Dongquan Gate. The two streets have now been jointly planned, rectified and developed. In addition to the old-fashioned shops, there are also many monuments and cultural relics: Yixuan, Wang's Xiaoyuan, a park of key cultural relics protection units in the country, and Guangling College, Anding College, Yi Dong Academy, which was founded earlier in Yangzhou.
