Diamond Head State Monument offers panoramic, stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and Honolulu. Our home sits on the slopes of this 300,000 year old crater. You can walk but we recommend driving to the entrance of the crater. The trail starts from inside the crater and isn't very long but can be somewhat of a challenge due to the incline. It is well worth the climb as up top you can see breathtaking views of all of Waikiki. This historic monument sued to be used by the US military as a post for preventing attacks against Honolulu. Make sure to get there before 4:30pm, as the park closes at 6pm and they do not allow hikers after 4:30. The hike will take you about 1.5-2 hours and you should bring a bottle of water with you to stay hydrated. Parking can get busy and is cash only ($5/car, $1/person for pedestrians)
