Dalian Shell Museum is the largest shellfish Museum in the world. It has more than 80,000 shellfish specimens and more than 3000 paleochrysanthemum fossils. Located in the southeast corner of Xinghai Square, Dalian, the new museum integrates shellfish research, collection, exhibition, popular science education and cultural tourism. Museums are the most exhibited shellfish museums in the world. From New Zealand, Argentina, Spain, Morocco, Malaysia, Fiji, the Philippines and other four oceans and more than 30 countries, there are also shellfish scientists from Japan, Taiwan and the United States, shellfish societies and shellfish collectors gift or exchange. Most of the exhibits in the museum come from the 30-year personal collection of the famous shellfish collector, Mr. Zhang Yi. Mr. Zhang Yi has made unremitting efforts for 30 years. While collecting all kinds of rare shells, he has edited and sorted out the World Shell Primary Color Atlas, which has made great contributions to filling the gaps in the research of shellfish culture in China and disseminating shellfish-related culture. Mr. Zhang Yi died in 2011. He was the chairman, general manager and Secretary of the Party Committee of Liaoning Dalian Marine Fisheries Group Company (Liaoyu Fisheries Group). He presided over the leadership of Liaoyu Fisheries Group Company for 28 years. During his tenure, he led Liaoyu Fisheries Group to open up the cause of ocean fishing in China and filled the gap of ocean fishing in China. Zhang Yi was one of the first experts to receive special allowances from the State Council. In July 2008, Mr. Zhang Yi was awarded the China Navigation Lifelong Contribution Award, becoming the first person in the field of Fisheries in China to win this title.


