The Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, famous for its Chinese and foreign use, was an artificial canal dug up during the Sui Dynasty, which was designed to facilitate transportation at that time. Now many elderly people along the canal still call the Beijing-Hangzhou Canal as the Yunliang River.
