Bitahai Nature Reserve is located in the east of Zhongdian County in northwest Yunnan Province, 25 kilometers away from the county seat. The reserve is centered on Bitahai, with a total area of 840 square kilometers. The Bita Sea is about 3 kilometers long and about 1 kilometers wide. The Tibetan language calls the Bita Sea "Bita Dewor". "Bita" means cattle blanket, "de" is magic, and "worse" is the sea. Bita Haisu is known as the Pearl of the Plateau, the lake is 3538 meters above sea level, and it is the highest lake in Yunnan Province. Historically, it was a submerged depression, and the Quaternary period formed the current plateau with the strong uplift of the Tibetan plateau.
