Among the treasures of St. Gallen's Abbey Library is the Stiftsbibliothek next to the church. The monastery library has a history of 800 years. It has a collection of 100,000 books. There are hundreds of priceless parchment manuscripts, such as the oldest famous architectural drawings in the 9th century A.D. and it is one of the oldest libraries in Europe.
