On the night in Somir, France, we lived in a world cultural heritage full of history, humanities and society. The hotel room was once a small monastery and hospital of the Royal Monastery of Fuentelai. There were 54 rooms in total, 6 of which were parent-child rooms in a double-storey attic. We stayed in one of them. The room was very good and the breakfast was rich. The design of the hotel strikes a proper balance between history and modernity, tradition and innovation, old and new, and reflects the future of the monastery. The monastery of Fontelle was founded in 1101 and is the largest monastery complex in France and even Europe today. The tomb contains four kings and queens of the British Golden Flowers. The French Revolution broke out in 1789, and the last nuns left the monastery of Fontelle. Five years later, Napoleon converted it into a national prison, and it was one of the most robust prisons in France until the 1960s. After nearly 20 years of restoration, the Fuentelé monastery complex was opened to the public in 1985 and is listed as a United Nations World Heritage Site. The monastery is not only a humanistic and religious site, but also a contemporary art exhibition, exquisite modern hotels and Michelin restaurants.
