Getting There - Train Beijing - Chongli Attractions - Skiing Hotels - Many options We spent a weekend in Chongli during the winter and I think we will repeat this every year. Very convenient to take the train from Beijing North station or Qinghe station. I recommend to plan in advance and buy the ticket when they are released two weeks in advanced 🎫 You can choose from different ski centers according to your wish and abilities. Weather in February can be cold but we were lucky with sun on the Saturday so we could enjoy our lunch in the sun outdoors. About 5 years ago, the area where the hotel located it has really good view of everything around. But this time in my recent visit it is now surrounded with unfinished buildings, more like abandoned and even higher than the hotel itself. So the building looks isolated and all you can see from the balcony is the unfinished buildings instead of the beautiful ski slopes. in the other side of the hotel nothing much has changed, you can still see the mountains. Now, facilities is a different story. It has been about 5 years but facilities hasn’t change nor updated. The toilet looks filthy with improper cleaning and rusted shower head pipe. Desk and chairs still the same. Although, they added wall heater for winter season (that’s a plus). Advanced skiers may enjoy themselves on the Florence Trail, which has an exciting length of 1,072 yards (980 meters), a width of 38 yards (35 meters), and an average slope of 27 degrees. The Brew House is just a convenient location to eat and drink a draft of beer after your ski adventure. Thaiwoo Ski Resort has lots of restaurants around but The Brew House is I think the nearest and has good beer to offer since it's too cold and beer can warm up my cold soul. It offers hamburgers, pizza, tacos, salads, bbq and more. For the drinks;Coffee, juice, wine, cocktails and beer. The price is average depends on your order. I love the pizza and beer the most. Welcome to Thaiwoo Ski resort. It is located 20 minutes drive outside of Chongli District, Hebei, China. And it takes three hours drive by car from Beijing. I would recommend travelling there by car since it is the most convenient and comfortable transport. If you want to try skiing, it costs CNY580 a day per person. Slopes for beginners and Advanced are available. There are many restaurants to eat and hotels to stay in for a night or more nights. Address - No.8 Changcheng West Street, Qiadong District, Zhangjiakou, Hebei Ambiance/Facilities - This hotel is huge. It has Indoor swimming pool, restaurant, meeting room, coffee shop which is Starbucks just at the lobby and also some shops. Highlights - This hotel was renovated in 2019 but opened in 2013. The hotel is just 2km from Zhangjiakou Railway Station and 8km from Zhangjiakou Airport. There are some things to explore around such as Chair Culture City, Xintiandi Culture Square or Ski resorts a little bit far from the hotel though. More than an hour trip I suppose. Avg. I’ve previously written about Thaiwoo Town, but this time I visited Fulong Four Seasons Town. Compared to Thaiwoo, Fulong Town is truly perfect for a leisurely stroll! 🤫 Currently, Fulong Town isn’t very popular, so not many people know about it. You can quietly enjoy a relaxing "Little Europe" vibe! Visiting Fulong Town feels like a real vacation—few crowds, peaceful, and surrounded by beautiful scenery. The town itself isn’t large, so a day trip is enough for a round-trip visit. 1️⃣ Transportation: 🚅 High-speed train: Depart from Beijing Qinghe Station or Beijing Station, and you’ll arrive at Taizicheng Station in just over an hour (⚠️ Chongli Station is closer, but it’s currently suspended). After exiting Taizicheng Station, walk straight ahead and take the free shuttle bus or a DiDi ride (around ¥45) to Fulong Town! 2️⃣ Travel Tips: 👉🏻 Upon arriving, I recommend taking a walk around the lake first—the town is built around it. The lake is full of fish 🐟, and there’s reportedly a musical fountain with lights at night (I was too captivated by the mountain views to see the fountain ⛲). 👉🏻 Next, explore Valley of Wind Chimes, a commercial area 🕍 featuring buildings in various European architectural styles from different periods. The walls are adorned with fun graffiti and painted stones, making it a great spot for live photos 📸. 👉🏻 For those with kids, head to Polar Bear Home Children’s Park. It costs ¥168 for one adult and one child, with plenty of play facilities inside. Adults can also take photos there. 👉🏻 Outdoor activities include the rainbow slide (¥40 per ride, ¥90 for three rides), grass sliding (¥40 per ride, ¥90 for three rides), children’s trampoline (¥35 for two hours), go-karting (¥128 for three laps), and mountain biking 🚴🏻‍♀️ (I happened to catch a mountain biking competition during my visit—the kids biking up the mountain were so cool!). 👉🏻 Taking the cable car 🚡 is a must-do! It costs ¥100 for a round trip to the mountaintop, where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the town and take stunning photos. During the Dragon Boat Festival, the trees and grass on the mountain were lush green, making it a perfect photo op. It feels like you can touch the clouds, and on clear days, you might even catch the sunset. 👉🏻 At the summit, there’s a Sky Mirror and a high-altitude swing 😚. Wearing white or other bright-colored dresses will make your photos pop. Sitting there, feeling the mountain breeze and breathing in the fresh air, is incredibly relaxing! 😍 ⚠️ Note: The mountaintop is about 1,640 meters above sea level, with strong winds and cooler temperatures. Bring a jacket 🧥 and don’t forget sunscreen. There might also be sudden rain showers, so carrying an umbrella is a good idea. 3️⃣ Food: There are plenty of dining options, like Zhangliang Spicy Hot Pot, Baman Rice Noodles, KFC, and Ban Noodles, but prices are slightly higher. 4️⃣ Accommodation: Many travelers recommend staying at Revivo Hotel 🏨, which has good reviews. Since I did a day trip, I didn’t book a hotel. ———————————————————— 🌹🌹🌹 Overall, Fulong Town is perfect for family trips or those who prefer fewer crowds and a peaceful, oxygen-rich escape. If you have more time, Cuiyun Mountain is also a great option.

As someone who doesn’t ski, I come here mainly to escape the heat. Every July and August, I flee the sweltering Beijing heat for Chongli’s cool retreat. It’s ideal for family vacations with kids—a perfect little weekend escape 🛁. Having visited Taiwu several times before, this was my first trip to Fulong Four Seasons Town. The lakeside European-style architecture is even more charming than Europe itself 😅. This place feels more kid-friendly, and dining options are more convenient than in Taiwu—plus, the food is amazing!! All three meals were delicious 👉🏻 Xiaomaisui Steamed Dumplings, Dawei Roast Whole Lamb, and Dunxiangju (see pic 15). 🏎 Go-karting, 🌈 rainbow slide, grass sliding, 🏰 inflatable castle, trampoline, 🏌 golf, off-road UTV, mountain downhill biking, 🚴‍♀️ pump track 🎠 Polar Bear Kids’ Playground 🚡 Take the cable car up the mountain for the Sky Mirror Swing 🩵🤍 and a panoramic view of the town. Booked a night at the Windchime Valley Revitalization Hotel 🏨, located right in the town. The lake-view room was stunning, and in the evening, you can enjoy the musical fountain light show 🎶 from the balcony. Breakfast by the lake offers a Chinese-Western buffet with outdoor seating—so relaxing ☕🥓🥪. 💭 Bring long pants and a thick jacket—mornings and evenings are chilly. Expect frequent rain showers 🌧, but they pass quickly. Summer biking 🚴‍♀️ and winter skiing 🎿—cool breezes in summer, snow in winter! Love it 🫶🏻. The clouds over Chongli 🌥 are endlessly mesmerizing.

In summer, the ski resort transforms into a grass skiing field, while the foot of the mountain offers various entertainment facilities suitable for all ages. At the town center lies a crystal-clear pond where koi fish swim leisurely, accompanied by regular music fountain shows with graceful and spectacular water displays, making it an ideal summer retreat for relaxation and family fun.
